About Tilles Center

Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, on the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University in Brookville, is Long Island's premier concert hall. The 2010-11 season will celebrate 30 years of world-class performances, under the current leadership of Executive Director Elliott Sroka. Season 30 begins with an opening night performance by Broadway, television and movie star Idina Menzel, in concert with full orchestra on October 2.

Long Island audiences will be thrilled by performances from the New York Philharmonic, Wynton Marsalis, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Christmas with the Boston Pops, Emanuel Ax, Video Games Live, Pilobolus, Chris Botti, Tyne Daly, Midori, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and many others throughout the season.

A constituent of Long Island University, Tilles Center hosts more than 100 performances by world-renowned artists in music, theater and dance each season. Among the artists and ensembles that have been presented by the Center are the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Seiji Ozawa, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, the Big Apple Circus, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Bill Cosby, James Taylor, Chris Botti, the Paper Bag Players, Wynton Marsalis, and the MET Orchestra with James Levine. In addition, Tilles Center is home to important regional arts organizations including the Long Island Philharmonic and Eglevsky Ballet.

Tilles Center's Concert Hall seats 2,242 and features orchestral performances, fully-staged operas, ballets and modern dance, along with Broadway shows, and all forms of music, dance and theater from around the world. Chamber music, cabaret, solo recitals, and theater productions for children and adults are presented in the more intimate 490-seat Hillwood Recital Hall.
