Eglevsky Ballet presents its production of "The Nutcracker" with choreography by Maurice Brandon Curry and live music provided by the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony under the baton of David Bernard. We lost a champion and friend of Tilles Center this week, way too soon. Kenneth “Kenny D” DiCamillo was a veteran talent agent who worked for many years at WME and had recently started his own agency based in Oyster Bay. Over the course of his career, Kenny worked with such legends as Aretha Franklin, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Patti LaBelle, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Regis Philbin and many more. To us at Tilles Center, Kenny was the legend. A longtime member of our Board of Advisors, Kenny was particularly dedicated to and instrumental in the success of our Arts Education programs and Swing for Kids golf outings. Besides that, he was just the best guy ever. Always kind, always generous, and always making us laugh and smile. He will be deeply, deeply missed. Our hearts go out to his beautiful wife and daughter. May Kenny Rest in Peace.

Happy Diwali 2023! Diwali is one of the most eagerly awaited festivals in India. It is popularly known as the festival of lights, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Diwali is a time for family gatherings, exchanging gifts, enjoying sumptuous feasts, and, most importantly, sharing love and good wishes with one another. We’d like to share that Brooklyn Raga Massive, an adventurous musicians’ collective that creates cross-cultural understanding through the lens of South Asian classical music, brings the ensemble, Tradition to Innovation, to Tilles Center's Krasnoff Theater on Sunday, November 19 at 3 pm. The program is a perfect introduction to audiences new to the genre of Indian Classical music. The term "raga" refers to a melodic mode in Indian music. Musicians Neel Murgai, Arun Ramamurthy, Damond Banks, Aaron Shag, Mir Naqibul, and Kane Mathis will take you on a journey, beginning with pure classical ragas from India and traveling towards contemporary adaptations in America. Shybunko-Moore is the CEO and Owner of GSE Dynamics Inc., a Woman Owned Small Business, and a U.S. Defense Manufacturer. She serves in many local, regional and national leadership roles, and is known for her efforts with regional workforce training initiatives and work on behalf of veterans, including with the United Veterans Beacon House, whose mission it is to help homeless veterans on Long Island. Violinist Midori makes her long awaited return to Tilles Center on Saturday, November 4 at 8 pm. Accompanying the renowned musician is Switzerland's Festival Strings Lucerne, one of the most distinguished chamber orchestras in Europe. Conductor Daniel Dodds will lead Midori and the Strings on a musical journey, in a program featuring works by Beethoven, Schumann, Honegger and Dubugnon. You can find the full program at TillesCenter.org. Midori first burst onto the classical music scene when she debuted with the New York Philharmonic in 1982, at only age 11! Last year, in fact, marked the 40th anniversary of her professional debut. Since then, she has performed across the globe, performing with the world's major orchestras and conductors. Tilles Center had the honor in 1996 of presenting Midori in recital. Not only is Midori a visionary artist, she is also an activist and educator who explores and builds connections between music and the human experience. She is the founder of Midori & Friends, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children across NYC through high-quality music education programs. Midori is also a Messenger of Peace for the United Nations' "Act Now" initiative, whose mission is to bring greater peace and prosperity to all people and our planet. We are so excited to welcome Tony Award winner Ali Stroker to the Krasnoff Theater on Friday, November 3 at 8 pm. Ali won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as 'Ado Annie' in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! Additionally, Ali made history as the first actor in a wheelchair to appear on Broadway in Deaf West’s acclaimed 2015 revival of Spring Awakening. You might have also seen Ali on the small screen, in such shows as Only Murders in the Building, Ozark, Glee, Blue Bloods and more. She can also add author credit to her resume, as she recently co-wrote a novel, The Chance to Fly, which was just released by Abrams Books this month. Ali has performed her cabaret act at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and New York’s Town Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, and now at Tilles Center! Ali also does speaking engagements all over the world, as her mission is to improve the lives of others through the arts, disabled or not. Spend a beautiful afternoon with us as we welcome the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) to our intimate Krasnoff Theater on Sunday, October 29 at 2 pm. The performance, entitled American Panorama, is the first of three exciting collaborations between Tilles Center and CMS this season. With thirteen musicians on stage, including CMS co-artistic directors, pianist Wu Han and cellist David Finckel (founding member of the Emerson String Quartet), the thoughtfully crafted program explores American-inspired music that culminates with Aaron Copland's epic Appalachian Spring. Also on the program are Arthur Foote's Nocturne and Scherzo for Flute and String Quartet, Antonín Dvořák's American Quartet, and Southland Sketches for Violin and Piano by Henry Thacker Burleigh, Dvořák's student and assistant for a brief time.
