Blast off into the multiverse of Pilobolus with Trips, a seamless voyage through gravity-defying feats and emotional landscapes. Each piece flows into the next with explosive athleticism, physical poetry and sly humor that brings audiences on a trip to infinite realities. The exhilarating, retro-futuristic “Flight” (2025), inspired by founding member and pilot Lee Harris, astounds with Pilobolus’s visually thrilling
yet cheeky wit. The 1991 classic “Particle Zoo” returns with its feral, testosterone-fueled quartet of raw power. “Lamentation Variations,” a kaleidoscopic, tradition-breaking reimagining of Martha Graham’s iconic 1930 solo, opens three distinct
portals—trippy, mythic, epic—into the evolving Pilobolus huniverse. Along the way, familiar favorites resurface, and a world premiere in 2026 unlocks a
brand-new dimension. From the skies to the soul to galaxies beyond, Trips isn’t just a series of works—it’s a single, shifting experience. This is Pilobolus as you’ve never seen it: bigger, deeper, and more transporting than ever.
About Pilobolus
Pilobolus – named after a barnyard fungus that propels its spores with extraordinary speed, accuracy, and strength – is a dance company founded by a group of Dartmouth College students in 1971 and is now run by Executive/Co-Artistic Director Renée Jaworski and Artistic Director Matt Kent. Pilobolus creates diverse collaborations that break down barriers between disciplines and challenge the way we think about dance. Physically and intellectually, the company engages and inspires audiences worldwide through performance, education, and consultation and propels itself in various directions to reach its goals.
Pilobolus has performed in over 70 countries. Its repertory grows year after year and includes two evening-length shows, Shadowland and Shadowland: A New Adventure, as well as collaborations with exciting artists, designers, and thinkers like Penn and Teller, MIT Distributed Robotics Laboratory, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, RadioLab, OK Go, Javier DeFrutos, Maurice Sendak, and more.
Pilobolus’s educational programming, which applies its unique collaborative process to help all kinds of groups improve communication and creativity includes workshops, master classes, residencies, family, and children’s programming. The very popular program for seniors Connecting with Balance can be experienced as a live or virtual class as well as a streaming subscription program through OurConcerts.live. Educational partners include Brooklyn Academy of Music, Music Center L.A., Dr. Phillips Center, and NYC and CT Public Schools.
