Bassem was the host of the popular TV show “Al Bernameg,” the first of its kind political satire show in the Middle East. One night only! Lin-Manuel Miranda and his friends come to Long Island’s Tilles Center at LIU Post September 27! This special evening will feature an intimate conversation with Lin-Manuel, moderated by writer and producer and friend Jeremy McCarter, plus performances by his good pals and Broadway stars Mandy Gonzalez and Javier Muñoz. Mandy and Javi, both of Hamilton and In the Heights fame, will perform a stellar setlist of songs backed by a 4-piece band, led by music director Dan Lipton. Our 2023/24 season of classical offerings begins Sunday, October 29 with Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s “American Panorama,” an afternoon of American-inspired music, culminating in Aaron Copland’s epic “Appalachian Spring.” Commissioned by the late choreographer and dancer, Martha Graham, “Appalachian Spring” premiered in 1944 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., with Graham dancing the lead role. Copland originally titled the work “Ballet for Martha,” but Graham suggested its current name shortly before the iconic work’s premiere. Also on the program are works by Dvořák, Burleigh and Foote.
