About Tradition to Innovation
Indian classical music has touched the hearts of people from around the world. Brooklyn Raga Massive brings the ensemble, Tradition to Innovation, to Long Island, where musicians Neel Murgai, Arun Ramamurthy, Damond Banks, Aaron Shag, Mir Naqibul, and Kane Mathis will take you on a journey, beginning with pure classical ragas from India and traveling towards contemporary adaptations in America. While standing on the shoulders of giants like Ravi Shankar and John Coltrane, the ensemble will present their original visions of raga music, reflective of their experiences with communities and cultures from across the world.
Tradition to Innovation is excited to bring the spectrum of classical and contemporary forms of Indian music to audiences in Long Island who are new to BRM and Indian Classical music on Nov 19th at 3:00 PM!
About Brooklyn Raga Massive
Brooklyn Raga Massive is an adventurous musicians’ collective that creates cross-cultural understanding through the lens of South Asian classical music, raga, by preserving and expanding this rich music genre. BRM aims to enrich and strengthen the raga-inspired musical ecosystem in New York City and across the country by providing direct support to artists, fostering collaboration through our jam sessions, facilitating cultural exchange through educational initiatives, and producing transcendent, and often massive, performances, festivals, and one-of-a-kind albums.
